iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye says South Africans have to make peace with the fact that Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane is no longer the same.
Khanye’s comments come on the back of the 1-1 Betway Premiership draw between Sundowns and his former side in Pretoria on Wednesday where he felt Zwane was the weakest link.
The result of the game was also consequential as it left the title race wide open with Sundowns still in pole position on the table with 65 points in 28 matches, however with just a three-point lead to Orlando Pirates on their heels who have a game in hand.
Mshishi’ has endured an injured-riddled campaign and had been starting off the bench for most matches this season but in the last three including against Chiefs where he lasted one half.
Khanye said there is no justification for starting the South African international ahead of Nuno Santos who gives the side the speed dimension when he comes on.
“I’ll complement the Sundowns midfield, which is Jayden Adams, [Marcelo] Allende and [Teboho] Mokoena they did very well,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“Mshishi was the weakest link at Sundowns I need to be honest with you. We have to make peace. Mshishi has done well for South African football but truly speaking lately at Sundowns…
“I mean if you are going to bench Nuno [Santos] for Mshishi it’s a problem that’s my observation. I know football is a game of opinions but the game needs speed these days.
“Speed but not just running for the sake of running however when it’s necessary. Nuno added speed, there was a spark and a sense of urgency, but Mshishi’s run off the ball, nothing.”
