Maema – How I Failed Trials At SuperSport
Mamelodi Sundowns’ in-form star Neo Maema has explained how he once failed trials at SuperSport United a few years ago.
Maema joined the Tshwane giants in July this year from Bloemfontein Celtic, scoring one goal and assisting in another four in the DStv Premiership this season so far.
The 25-year-old is shining at Masandawana and spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu recently.
“Yeah, I remember the picture very well cause it broke me so much, I went to SuperSport when I was in Grade 9,” he told iDiski Times.
“I think it was around September and I even left my last paper for trials and I went there, and it was a five-day trials and passed up until the last selection, which was on Friday.
“And we played with the guys who were already there and it was more like a game, and I was one of the two guys that actually failed and their reason was my height.
“So I didn’t feel well and I was like, let me go back to school and I will see what will happen in the future,’ but then I was grateful for the opportunity, to test yourself, it’s very challenging.
“I saw that a lot of things had to be done and to keep on improving I have to focus on my studies, because someday or the other it’ll come, that’s when I returned to Bloem.”
