After leading AmaZulu to a victory over Black Leopards that took them up to third spot on the DStv Premiership table, Head Coach Benni McCarthy says he was delighted to get the victory straight after the international break.
AmaZulu joined second-placed Golden Arrows on 37 points, but Arrows are ahead of the KZN neighbours on goal difference.
McCarthy said it was a tough game against the bottom-of-the-log Leopards team, but feels his team were the better team and deserved the victory.
“I am pleased with the performance, and the three points especially after the international break,” McCarthy told Usuthu’s media department.
“I think we didn’t create enough chances to win convincingly, but we definitely created the majority of the chances, that when the 90 minutes ended then we could come away with 3 points.”
“We scored a lovely goal, from a nice interlinking play with Majoro, Memela, Mulenga and Sithebe to go 1-0 up.”
“And then it was just about just putting the opposition under pressure, and taking the moments and playing with the counter attack because they are going to get their opportunity to come at you.”
“They put in numbers in the front and out us players up high but we dealt them fantastically.”
