Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has once again expressed concern at their continued missed chances following their Betway Premiership defeat to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night.
Abafana Bes’thende put Pirates on the back foot earlier on in the match but missed chances which later came back to haunt them.
It was indeed the visitors who broke the deadlock at the resumption of the second period through Patrick Maswanganyi before Siyanda Mthanti leveled matters a few minutes later. With just over 15 minutes left on the clock, substitute Tshegofatso Mabasa stepped up with a stunner to hand Jose Riveiro’s charges a 2-1 win.
Mngqithi felt that his troops once again repeated their mistakes from their past matches where they have missed chances only to be punished later and lose games.
“It was so unfortunate. I think we had a very good first half where I can think we could’ve scored as many goals as we could imagine against a very good team,” Mngqithi told SuperSport TV after the match.

“But unfortunately, when you don’t take your chances in football you’ll get punished.
“Second-half, I think it was evenly balanced. We had moments, they had moments, but they were a little bit clinical in their chances and credit must be given to them.
“I think they used their chances very well but I’m very proud of how the boys have come out in this match.
“The energy levels were very good; the intensity was at the right level. We played the ball I think the way we should be playing week in and week out.
“And again, another week of missed chances.”
