Mamelodi Sundowns co- head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has hailed his side’s second half performance as they beat Richards Bay 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup match.
Masandawana continued with their great run of beating opposition from lower division sides after securing a comfortable win over the GladAfrica Championship log leaders at Princess Magogo Stadium on Friday evening.
Mngqithi said his team’s first half performance was a bit ‘scruffy’, but they came back well in the second half to create good scoring opportunities.
“I think our, our first half was a bit scruffy,” Mngqithi told the club’s media department.
“But I was very impressed with our second half, I thought we gained control of the game, we passed the ball better, we were not rushing, we’re also not running with the ball a lot in a field that we are not even familiar with.
“Our second half looked very strong, very resolute.
“And we created a lot of good scoring moments. And I was very impressed.”
Mngqithi was pleased with the debuts of Surprise Ralani, who scored the opening goal, and Teboho Mokoena who came off the bench.
“It was a very sound performance from Surprise,” Mngqithi continued.
“But not surprising performance, because we know what he’s capable of, and we know is still going to help us a lot.
“He understands our tactical plan, he understands our playing concept, and Cape Town City is playing something very close to what we would want to see.
“Tebza came in second half just to refresh the team. And he did very well to stabilise the midfield, good passing moments, created a lot of very interesting moments even in the final third.
“So we are happy with their contributions to the team, and we believe there is still more to come.”
