TS Galaxy head coach Owen Da Gama has given his assessment on the club’s new signings and what they will bring to the team.
Galaxy have brought in Mohammed Anas, Augustine Kwem, Mthobisi Mngomezulu, Xolani Slawula, Sithembiso Ngobe, Igor Makitan, Vasilije Kolak and Marate Ndieguene.
Da Gama says that he’s happy with who’s joined, and also says they may still add to the squad, albeit someone who is a free agent.
“You know, any coach will tell you that he’ll always want more, and he’ll want better,” Da Gama told the club’s media department.
“But look, I think we’ve signed the players that we’ve signed, there’s one more player that I think we can still sign outside the window, who’s out of contract.
“So let’s see what happens there. But otherwise, we are happy and satisfied with what we’ve signed.
“The only thing is that you never know who will come through immediately, because it takes time for them to acclimatise. But we are we are very happy with all the players that we’ve signed.”
One area they have strengthened in particular is up front…
“Ja, no, look, we signed the strikers,” Da Gama continued.
“But we understood that it’s gonna take time for them to settle in and understand how we play, and also for us to understand their strengths and play according to their strengths or make sure we can maximize that.
“Last season we were outplaying a lot of teams, but we just couldn’t score. So we just thought maybe that’s the department to beef up.”
