Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has commented on Gavin Hunt’s surprise move to Chippa United.
The South African tactician spoke to a host of local journalists at during a press conference with SAFJA, with Chippa’s announcement of Hunt as new coach breaking in the middle of it.
As a consequence, Mosimane touched on the new job of his old rival, saying it is a good move for the former Kaizer Chiefs coach.
“In our language we ijob ijob, as long as he coaches in football, I agree with Gavin, he must coach,” he said during a SAFJA press conference.
“For me, he is one of the most successful coaches in South Africa. I’ve had battles with him on the pitch. He’s been a decent guy, a very decent guy.
“Whoever fights for the league title with me, you must know that it’s mind games a little bit. But he has controlled it well. He has won a title at Wits after 100 years, that team only won the title after 100 years.
“He’s done well, look at the trophies he’s won. He came to Amakhosi, it didn’t go well, of course, but I thought he was going to be Bafana coach.
“Hunt’s appointment by Chippa comes as a surprise, with owner Chippa Mpengesi known for not being too patient with his coaches. But I read a lot of things, with people saying his philosophy doesn’t suit the way Bafana plays.
“I don’t know what you need, you need the way Bafana plays or you need to win? And I don’t know what Baxter’s philosophy is to be honest.
“No coach in South Africa has won titles like him (Gavin), PSL titles he has won, Nedbank he has won.”
