It is with sad news iDiski Times has heard that former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana left-back Siyabonga Zulu has passed away in a tragic car accident that involved his club Phezulu FC on Saturday.
Zulu, who was 31 at the time of his untimely passing, sadly lost his life along with another player, Nhlanhla Masina, a former TS Sporting player, while a third player (former Ajax Cape Town and Swallows FC’ winger Thabo Mosadi) is said to be in critical condition and currently fighting for his life in hospital.

The accident is believed to have transpired shortly after their match against Sivutsa Stars at Driekoppies Stadium.
Zulu hailed from the Orlando Pirates academy as far back as 2011 and was loaned out to several clubs including Blackburn Rovers FC, Sivutsa Stars and United FC before eventually leaving the club in 2015 to join the now-defunct Platinum Stars.
In 2018, he was snapped up by Pitso Mosimane for Sundowns with the likes of Gaston Sirino, Aubrey Ngoma and Jeremie Brockie.
He was also capped once by the national team in 2015 under coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba.
