The Latest On Kodisang To Chiefs Talks

Talks between Kaizer Chiefs and Braga have reached a ‘deadlock’ over Kobamelo Kodisang, his agent Mike Makaab has confirmed.

The long protracted transfer saga for the 22-year-old has reached a stage where it’s unlikely he will be moving to Chiefs as initially expected.

Chiefs and the player were said to be mutually interested in a deal upon the expiry of his contract with the Portuguese top-flight side, who since opted to activate a two-year option on his contract which threw a spanner in the works.

Makaab and his ProSport International agency have maintained they will look to get him out of the club either on loan or a permanent switch should he be sent back to the reserve team or sent out on loan to a second-tier side.

But after starting pre-season with the B team it appears Amakhosi have been priced out a deal to lure the South Africa youth international back to the DStv Premiership.

“As we stand now, we have hit a deadlock in the Kobamelo Kodisang negotiations, not because of anyone’s fault, it’s not Kaizer Chiefs’ fault, it’s not the players’ fault, it’s not Braga’s fault,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

“Braga puts a value on the player, Chiefs puts a value on the player and if the two clubs cannot come to an agreement, the deal doesn’t happen.

“Whilst I’m not saying the deal is dead and buried, it’s a very very difficult deal to get across the line, so the supporters need to understand that, there are certain things beyond our control – we do not set transfer fees or force a club to sell a player that they don’t want to sell.”

Kodisang has scored 16 goals in 55 games for the reserve team since joining the club from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in August 2019.
