Cape Town City’s promotion hopes came to an end on Wednesday, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Magesi in their final Promotional Playoff game at Athlone Stadium.
City needed a victory, and a victory with several goals to keep their slim hopes alive.

And while Therlo Moosa gave the home team the lead just before half-time, Mcedi Vandala was able to equalise just after the break, and those were the only two goals of the game.
While City had 19 shots at goal, Elvis Chipezeze and Magesi’s defence stood strong holding out Jan Vreman’s team.
It was a disappointing home performance in the playoffs for City, who lost to Milford in the opening game at the same ground.
Magesi kept their hopes of surviving the drop, but will need to beat Milford in the final game on the weekend.
