Eight Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs, including league leaders Milford, have booked their place in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
The eight second-tier teams will join eight teams from the SAFA leagues and the 16 Betway Premiership clubs in the main competition.
Interestingly seven of the eight ties were won by the away teams.
On Tuesday, MFC league leaders Milford booked their place in the round of 32 with a 2-0 away victory over Upington City, with Tshepo Liphoko and Thobela Sikhakhane scoring first-half goals.
In fact, on Tuesday, all the away teams were victorious. Mziwokuthula Zimu scored the winner as Kruger United won 1-0 at Orbit College, while Clyde Combi and David Mathipi grabbed goals in Baroka’s 2-0 win over Casric Stars.
Ismael Wadi gave JDR Stars an early lead but Reagan Lubesha equalised before halftime for Venda Football Club before Judas Moseamedi, Rudzani Thobo and Akani Rathokoa scored in the second half to give Venda a 4-1 win.
Wednesday’s four matches were tighter affairs, with all four games going into half-time goalless. Hungry Lions finally broke the deadlock through Muzomuhle Khanyi just before the hour mark as they won 1-0 away at the University of Pretoria.
Pretoria Callies also grabbed a second half winner away at Leruma United, with Moremi Seketso scoring what proved to be the winner in a 1-0 victory.
Athini Jodwana grabbed a late winner as Durban City broke the run of away winners, as they beat Highbury 1-0 in Chatsworth.
However, the match between Black Leopards and Cape Town Spurs in Thohoyandou needed extra time and penalties, as it ended goalless after 120 minutes. Cape Town Spurs booked their place with a 4-1 victory in the shootout
