Official: PSL Make Royal AM Decision

The Premier Soccer League have kicked Royal AM out of the Nedbank Cup for the current season, after the NSL Executive Committee met on Monday.

The club has been severely impacted after the South African Tax and Revenue Service raided the houses and seized luxury cars of President Shauwn Mkhize over an alleged R40 million tax debt.

The club has also been hit by a FIFA transfer ban over the outstanding payment of Samir Nurkovic, who the club owes R15 million in salaries (plus interest).

In addition, the club failed to pay their players and staff in November in December, with MaMkhize stating the club was currently taken over by SARS, which resulted in the cancellation of their fixtures.

Amid reports the club has been put up for sale by SARS, the PSL now confirmed Thwihli Thwahla’s removal from the Ke Yona Cup.

“The NSL Executive Committee convened on Monday to consider further representations from the Curator and management of Royal AM Football Club,” read a statement.

“Having reviewed these representations, the Executive Committee, in concurrence with Royal AM and the Curator, resolved that Royal AM Football Club will take no further part in the Nedbank Cup competition this season, in the interest of time.

“The Nedbank Cup fixture (number 21) between Milford FC and Sekhukhune United FC has been scheduled for 15h00 on Sunday, 2 March 2025, at Princess Magogo Stadium.

“The League will confirm ticketing information in due course.”
