Petersen – Nedbank Cup Last Chance For Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen admits that the Nedbank Cup could be their last shot at lifting piece of silverware this campaign after missing out on both the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup.

Amakhosi were pitted against minnows Free Agents FC in Thursday’s draw of the last 32 round with Petersen vowing that they will give it their best shot by applying themselves properly in order to avoid past disappointments.

“It would be extra motivation to the guys knowing that at the moment it’s only the Nedbank Cup and the league that’s still up for grabs,” Petersen told the media after the Nedbank Cup draw on Thursday.

“So, I think realistically speaking, going for this trophy and trying to change out fortunes and obviously using that as a motivation, a stepping stone.

“I think this time around; I have a feeling it will be quite different and hopefully God willing we can go all the way.

“I think for us it’s just a matter of applying ourselves properly.

“Going out and proving to everyone that the past is in the past and that we can change that. Rocking up on the day and showing that we’re the bigger team and we have history in the Nedbank Cup.

“But at the end of the day, the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding.

“I think for us it’s applying ourselves properly and hopefully turn our fortunes around this season.”
