Shabba Reveals His Favourite Chiefs Jersey

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala has revealed that the famous ‘zebra kit’ is his favourite Nedbank Cup kit from his illustrious career.

The legendary midfielder joined fashion personality, Nqobile Khwezi in Ya Rona House for a trip down memory lane, sharing the Chiefs shirts that had the biggest impact on his journey.

With each kit telling a story of triumph, resilience and glory and with a discerning eye, he offered fans a glimpse into the stylistic football connections he has with the jerseys.

Shabba was discussing his favourite kits and had preselected the black and gold 40th-Chiefs anniversary kit from 2010, the white and gold kit from 2010/11 and the famous “zebra kit” from 2011/12, with Shabba explaining he prefers the latter, going for “history over looks”.

“So this is the most popular jersey that was launched in the 2012 season,” he told Khwezi.

“A lot of people mocked us for this, they even called us the zebras. But the significance of this kit, it brought success.

“We won the Nedbank Cup final in Moses Mabhida, and I grabbed an assist, so this is my favourite kit.”

Chiefs won the Nedbank Cup Final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where Shabba grabbed an assist in the 1-0 win against SuperSport United in 2012/13.
