Titus Impresses As Broos Watches On

Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker has said he was pleased with Devin Titus’ performance in their 2-0 win over Polokwane City in the Nedbank Cup last sixteen on Thursday, adding it was nice to see Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos in attendance.

Stellenbosch booked their place in the quarter-finals of the cup, in a convincing win, where especially in the first half, they could have scored more goals.

Titus, in particular, was impressive, but there were good performances for Barker’s team across the pitch.

“Ja, no, I thought we were really good first half and probably should have got more than what we did,” Barker said.

“Ja, it was nice when the national coaches also in the stands and gives the players a little bit of a boost.

“And ja, I thought Devin took his goal really well. It’s a little bit unlucky when he got through, maybe to get the second then. And ja, but good all-round performances.

“I think the starting eleven were really good and solid. It’s nice to have some players back from suspensions and injuries. I think it does show when there’s just that maturity in the full-back positions that helps us a lot.”
