Broos – This Pirates Star Has To Go To Europe

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says young Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has all the tools to make it in Europe and was one of the first names on his final 23-man list for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria next month. The 19-year-old is only in his second season in professional ranks and has been a key part of his Orlando Pirates’ defence since being promoted in January.   Mbokazi has also been named one of the co-captains at Pirates this season and has so far walked the side out on several occasions.

Tinkler – Ask The Referee

Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler says questions related to how his side’s Betway Premiership 1-1 draw with AmaZulu went should be answered by the referee after a night of controversy over Thabang Monare’s Isiphandla at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Tinkler felt that his side deserved certain decisions to go their way and should have also been awarded a penalty at some point. However, the incident that dominated the game was when Babina Noko played for a lengthy period with a man down after Thabang Monare was told to go off in the sixth minute of the game. The midfielder wasn’t

Cardoso – We Are Rebuilding

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says judgement of treating draws like a defeat is harsh, as they are rebuilding the squad that will return back to it’s high level. Sundowns are unbeaten this season, but the draws to Chippa United, two to Orlando Pirates which resulted in an MTN8 semi-final exit on penalties, and to Kaizer Chiefs last night have seen sections of supporters call for the head coach to be replaced. The club’s Sporting Director has also been subject of scrutiny, after a uninspiring transfer window thus far, with Sundowns only signing a left-back Fawaaz Basadien, as the

Mailula, 24, spent last season on loan at Wydad Athletic Club, being lured to Morocco by his former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena, who handed him his professional breakthrough in South Africa. Under Mokwena, he netted 15 goals and four assists in 31 games which led to a €1.5-million transfer to the Major League Soccer (MLS) side, but he never quite established himself in the squad ahead of Italy forwards Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi – who have both

Nabi – We Knew Sundowns Weakness

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed his side knew that Mamelodi Sundowns “don’t finish games strong” and admits he feels a bit frustrated at not getting the win over the defending champions. Chiefs and Sundowns could not be separated in front of 75 000 at the Calabash, which kept Amakhosi in second place – level on 10 points with Sekhukhune United, and two ahead of Sundowns. “It’s true there is some kind of frustration because we believe we could’ve gotten the three points,” Nabi told SuperSportTV. “But there was a good team in front of us. We have a

Chiefs Continue Unbeaten Start

Kaizer Chiefs have maintained their unbeaten start to the season with the 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening. From the get-go, Chiefs came into the game with a clear game plan, press with a high line and unsettle Sundowns’ build-up and while it worked, with the visitors particularly lacklustre – neither side looked like scoring in the opening half of the game. It was the typical approach from Chiefs in the high-profile game under returning head coach Nasreddine Nabi – who missed their opening three wins of the league due to a family emergency and
