Steve Barker has secured his first trophy with Simba SC after his side beat bitter rivals Young Africans in the Muungano Cup final.
Barker joined the Tanzanian giants in December and has since won two Coach of the Month accolades.
On Wednesday, Barker claimed his first trophy after beating Yanga in extra-time, as both teams couldn’t be separated inside 90 minutes before Barker’s side scored a late winner.
It was Simba’s first win over Yanga in eight games, and Barker’s men also ended their rivals’ six-match winning run across all competitions.
Simba won all their three games in the Muungano Cup, without conceding a single goal.
It’s Barker’s second trophy as coach after he also won the Carling Knockout Cup with Stellenbosch FC in 2023/24.
