Dithejane Gets First Start, Bafana Defender Provides Assist

Puso Dithejane made his first start in Chicago Fire colours, while fellow Bafana Bafana defender Samukelo Kabini grabbed an assist over the weekend.

Kabini, showing attacking instincts rare for a defender, set up his side’s second goal as Molde FK cruised to a 5-1 home victory over Valerenga in Norway’s top flight.

In the MLS, Dithejane, who had struggled for game-time, appears to be gaining his coach’s confidence after starting in Chicago’s dominant 5-0 win against Sporting Kansas City. Meanwhile, compatriot Mbekezeli Mbokazi remained an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, Bongokuhle Hlongwane played 63 minutes in Minnesota United’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Los Angeles FC, while Olwethu Makhanya completed the full match in Philadelphia Union’s 2-0 loss to Columbus Crew.

In England, Luke Le Roux played the entire 90 minutes as Portsmouth defeated Stoke City 3-1.

In Austria, Yusuf Maart featured for 56 minutes for Ried in their 1-0 loss to Tirol, with Antonio van Wyk playing 64 minutes.

Germany saw Ime Okon complete 90 minutes for Hannover 96 in their 3-1 win over Karlsruher SC.

In Belgium, Shandre Campbell was absent from the Club Brugge squad that beat Gent 2-0, while in Romania, Siyabonga Ngezana did not feature for FCSB in their 3-1 win over Petrolul.

In Cyprus, Mihlali Mayambela made his return from injury, playing 16 minutes in Omonia’s 3-2 victory over Appollon.

In Denmark, Gift Links was one of the outstanding players for Aarhus who drew 0-0 with Midtjylland in the league match.

In Saudi, Elias Mokwana played 77 minutes and made an assist as his side Al Hazem beat Al Riyadh 2-1 in the league match. Meanwhile, Mohau Nkota’s Al Ettifaq was not in action this weekend.
