End Of The Road For Carnell & Blom

Bradley Carnell and Njabulo Blom’s fairytale season in the Major League Soccer came to an end in the Playoffs, as they were knocked out by Kansas City.

Carnell’s St. Louis City were the surprise package in the MLS this season, winning the Western Conference despite being a newly-formed franchise.

They did break several records along the way, becoming the MLS expansion club with most wins in their debut season and also qualified for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

However, on Sunday night, the fairytale run came to an end, as they lost the return fixture of their MLS Cup playoff 2-1 at Kansas City.

St. Louis had already lost the first leg 4-1 at home, despite beating the same opponents twice at home in the regular season.

Kaizer Chiefs youth product Blom featured in both games, and made 29 appearances overall for the MLS side.

Carnell, meanwhile, is one of the three nominees for the three nominees for the SIGI SCHMID Coach Of The Year category alongside FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan and Colombia Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy.
