Mayo Sends Message To Broos

CR Belouizdad striker Khanyisa Mayo feels he has hit the ground running in Algeria and is once again raising his hand to return to Bafana Bafana.

Mayo has been an integral part of the Belouizdad attack, especially in the CAF Champions League. His side lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium where he received love from the opposing fans on Sunday.

The former Cape Town City man has played 15 matches for his new side and scored three goals, including one in the Champions League. He says he is enjoying the journey and pleased he is doing well at the club and hopes to return to the national team where he has four caps.

“Definitely, it took me months to settle in, but I have managed to find my feet because of the coach, technical staff and the players, helping me to adapt in the league, the atmosphere, the style of play in the team,” he said.

“For me, it’s been a journey I have enjoyed, as a footballer you have to live for moments like this, to enjoy it each and every time you get an opportunity [to play]. So, I think with the Bafana… I have been putting myself out there, raising my hand, knocking on the door.

“I have been asking questions to get back into the team, we will see what happens because it’s a long journey, the season is still long but God willing, things will happen according to my plan.”
