Wydad Athletic Club Rulani Mokwena has reacted to suffering a defeat in his first official game for the Moroccan giants.
Wydad lost 1-0 to MAS de Fes after conceding an injury-time penalty and were unable to turn 70% of possession and the lion share of shots into a victory.
Mokwena wasn’t happy with the result but saw some positives in the performance of his new side.
“I’m sad, I don’t like losing. I’m a very bad loser,” he told hesport.
“A good opponent in a difficult stadium, so congratulations to the opponents. That’s the most important thing we can say, congratulations to the opponents.
“It was a difficult game, I expected it to be difficult. Lots of long balls, it stretches the team.
“In the second half we played a lot better but we were good. I’m happy in the performance, just disappointed in the result.”
Mokwena also insisted that they are in this project for the long run and it won’t be a change overnight.
“The fans pain is our pain, we know what the club is going through,” he continued.
“It’s been a difficult two seasons and we are swimming against the tide. But we knew that before we came here. It’s a process and that’s why we signed a three-year contract, isn’t it?
“It’s a project and we want to be here, fulfil it and leave this club better than we found it. And we will do it.”
Lastly, the South African tactician also confirmed they are not done signing yet, after their transfer ban was lifted by FIFA last week.
“We are in the market for a striker, for sure,” he added.
