Pitso Mosimane could be in line to make a sensational move for Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau in the January window.
Tau, 30, has been informed that he can leave Al Ahly pending an agreement of a mutual termination and the likes of Zamalek SC and Kaizer Chiefs have been mooted as suitors.
However, reports in Egyptian media claim Mosimane, who signed him for Ahly from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, wants to reunite with him in Iran.
Currently at Esteghlal, who have struggled for goals since his arrival, the signing of Tau could be a major boost for the second half of the season for the Persian Gulf Pro giants who are also competing in the AFC Champions League.
Tau has won 11 trophies in four years with the Club og the Centrury while featuring 125 times, with 30 goals and 14 assists to his name.
The Red Devils are aiming to sign Algeria international Baghdad Bounedjah from Qatar Stars League club Al-Shamal as their next foreign recruit to bolster their attacking options.
