Teenage midfielder Keanu Stevens is set to head to Italy where he will hope to impress Italian giants AC Milan during a camp in the European country.
The former national U17 player from Gqeberha came through the Ebhayi Football Club but has also been part of the youth setup at Chippa United recently.
The assessment opportunity has reportedly been arranged by World Wide Scholarships who spotted Stevens at a tournament in East London.
Stevens, a grade 11 pupil at Victoria Park High School, comes from Arcadia in Gqeberha, headed to Italy at the start of the week and the defensive midfielder will be hoping to impress.
“”This is my first international trip and I am very excited,” Stevens was quoted as saying by HeraldLive.
“My father is a former professional footballer. He is the one who got me involved in the sport and I learnt a lot from him.
“I started when I was eight years old. When I step on the field all my problems go away and I really enjoy playing football. It’s fun and I like to work hard.
“In Italy, I just want to make my parents proud, but the first thing I want to do is focus on getting a contract and I want to push through the limits.
“I am thankful for the opportunity and I will do my best.”
