Al-Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane has warned his players of complacency ahead of the second leg against Andre Iniesta’s Emirates Club.
Al Wahda have one leg in the next round of Arabian Gulf Cup after beating Emirates Club 3-0 in the first leg. New signing Christian Guanca played a huge role after laying an assist for the first goal and scoring the third goal.
Mosimane mentioned that the 3-0 is giving them a slight advantage but he is expecting Emirates Club to come out guns blazing as they will look for an early goal to unsettle Al Wahda.
“The 3-0 result in the first leg gives us a slight advantage. I’m not saying we’ve qualified, but we have avoided significant pressure, and we will play comfortably at the opponent’s stadium,” Mosimane said ahead of the match.
“I expect that the Emirates team will push to score an early goal to reduce the gap. We need to focus, understand the spaces that the opposing team will create, and show our seriousness and great respect for the opponent and their chances.
“We are entering a new match with a 0-0 scoreline. Demonstrating our seriousness and professionalism on the field is a primary requirement, and we also need to continue our progress in cohesion and performance.
“Therefore, we will spare no effort in this match despite the advantage we hold.”
