Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies got their title defence off to a great start with a 2-0 victory over JVW FC in the 2025 Hollywoodbets Super League at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
The five-time champions, under the tutelage of interim coach Godfrey Sapula, wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard with last season’s top goal scorer Boitumelo Rabale opening the scoring in the 20th minute.

Less than 10 minutes later, the home side doubled their lead which came courtesy of an own goal from the visitors as Sapula’s side held their guard to collect the maximum points.
Sundowns moved top after their first match of the season with three points while the Blue Diamonds dropped to third place with three points from two matches.
In an earlier kick-off at the same venue, TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies shared spoils with Limpopo’s First Touch Academy in a goalless draw to sit in fifth and fourth spots respectively on the log with a point each.
