Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies got a big advantage in their quest to defend their Hollywoodbets Super League title, without even playing.
This is after University of Western Cape (UWC) were stunned 1-0 by Richmond United in De Aar this past weekend. Kananelo Taiwe scored the only goal in the 65th minute at Merino Park to help her side move one spot up on the standings to seventh with 45 points from 28 matches.
The Brazilians and the Blues were placed first and second on the log, equal on 66 points both from 25 matches before the latter’s trip to De Aar.
Sundowns are currently in the Ivory Coast where they have qualified for the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League but remain at the top of table on the domestic front, with an advantage of a game in hand and goal difference as the sides are equal on points.
In the other result from this weekend JVW FC were held to goalless draw by First Touch Academy at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Coupled with their midweek result the Blue Diamonds are third on the log with 57 points in 27 outings, while the Limpopo side remained in 11th spot with 31 points from 28 matches. Â
