2 In, 3 Out For Pitso On Deadline Day

Pitso Mosimane’s new team Abha Club lost their most prolific goal scorer to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq but also made two signings on Deadline Day in Saudi Arabia.

Mosimane joined Abha FC on a short-term deal with the target of preventing them from relegation, as they currently sit in 17th place on the log.

However, things were not made easier after Abha lost Cameroon striker Karl Toko Ekambi to Al-Ettifaq. Ekambi has scored seven goals for Abha in the first half of the season, with the second-best player rom the club only netting three times.

But as part of the deal, Abha secured the services of former Monaco, Wolfsburg and Fenerbahce defender Marcel Tisserand.

The 31-year-old made 15 appearances for Gerrard’s side in the first half of the campaign and was brought in to stabilise the defence.

Mosimane’s new side also secured the services of left-back Ibrahim Al-Zubaidi, who joined on loan from his former side Al Ahli.

Meanwhile, Abha have also released released Cameroonian keeper Devis Epassy and Iraqi international Saad Natiq this January.

Abha, who are without a win in eight games, losing seven of those, are currently 17th in the Saudi Pro League, five points from safety.

They return to playing on 15 February when they will face fourth-placed Al-Taawoun.
