Motsepe Foundation Championship side NB La Masia have completed the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siyabonga Zulu and Kaizer Chiefs youth product Thato Makua, who become the first signings under Daine Klate.
Zulu, 30, has been without a club since July 2021 after he was released by All Stars. The Orlando Pirates youth product has been playing in the eKasi tournaments to keep himself fit and won the Phillys Games with Ambassadors in 2022.
The Soweto-born left-back has represented South Africa in all national team level and has one Bafana Bafana senior cap under his belt, which he received during the time of coach Shakes Mashaba.
iDiski Times understands that Zulu signed a one-year contract with La Masia, which will expire in June 2024. Zulu’s signing was announced alongside that of Kaizer Chiefs youth product Thato Makua.
The 20-year-old came through Chiefs’ ranks before joining Moroka Swallows last season, but after just seven appearances for the Dube Birds he left the club.
Zulu, meanwhile, has made 80 appearances in the DStv Premiership, with 57 of those coming for Platinum Stars, 20 for Chippa United, two for Black Leopards and just one for Sundowns.
The Westbury side are sitting ninth with eight points after seven matches and have recently appointed Klate as head coach, as they continue to fight for promotion to the elite league.
