Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane is understood to be close to leaving Bayern Munich and “in talks” with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, according to multiple reports.
Mane, 31, joined Bayern ahead of the 2022/23 but what many thought was a perfect match turned out to be a little bit of a mismatch.
The two-time African Footballer of the Year made 25 Bundesliga appearances for the German giants, scoring seven goals and setting up five more.
Overall, he netted 12 times and and set up six in 38 games, but many in Germany see it as an underwhelming spell, with the club’s leadership understood to be keen on getting him off their wage bill.
Mane was said to be hesitant initially but after latest talks seems open to leave Germany for Saudi Arabia.
According to L’Equipe, he is “in talks” with Al Nassr, where he would join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Seko Fofana and Marcelo Brozovic.
The latest development comes after Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel called his spell “unsatisfactory” and said it would be a “very difficult situation” for the Senegal superstar in the coming season.
“Basically, Sadio had an unsatisfactory season and fell short of expectations,” Tuchel said during a recent press conference.
“The competitive situation is extremely high for him with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, we have a constellation which makes it very difficult for Sadio. The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club.”
