Maritzburg Appoint New Assistant, Human Set For Gauteng Move

Maritzburg United look to have appointed Simo Dladla as assistant for new coach Zipho Dlangalana, while attacking midfielder Rowan Human is close to a move to SuperSport United or Kaizer Chiefs.

According to iDiski Times sources, Dladla arrived on Tuesday at the club’s training base in Pietermaritzburg.

Peter Peterson, who was with the club DStv Diski Challenge team, is another of Dlangalala’s assistants, having attended the launch of the KZN Premier’s Cup last week.

The Team of Choice are building a new team from scratch after they suffered relegation at the end of last season via the play-offs.

The entire technical team around coach Fadlu Davids left and club chairman Farook Kadodia had to start from scratch to appoint new coaches ahead of the Motsepe Foundation Championship this coming season.

As Dlangalala was roped in, he has since added Dladla, who had been club-less, having coached many clubs in the KwaZulu-Natal such as Uthongathi, Real Kings, Royal AM, Richards Bay and Moroka Swallows.

Meanwhile, star attacking midfielder Human is close to leaving the club and the move is set to be completed before the end of this week.

Maritzburg chairman recently told publication that he was flooded with offers, both locally and internationally, for Human and Karim Kimvuidi.

This publication understands the race to win Human’s signature is between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs.

At SuperSport, Maritzburg’s number 10, would be reunited with his former coach Gavin Hunt, who gave him his break in the PSL in the 2019/20 season at Bidvest Wits before joining Israel side Beitar Tel Aviv.

The talented midfielder joined the Team of Choice at the beginning of the 2021/22 season when Ernst Middendorp was in charge.

Human featured in 31 matches in all competitions last season, including four in the PSL Promotional play-offs, but couldn’t prevent the club’s relegation, despite netting three of the club’s four goals in the play-offs.

“The last couple of months I felt I had to give my all, but it was little too late,” he said on Bafana Bafana duty during the COSAFA Cup in Durban recently.

Human also scored the winning penalty as Morena Ramoreboli’s makeshift Bafana side won the bronze medal in the regional tournament against Malawi at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.

He also riffled in the equaliser in the group stage match against Botswana after coming on from the bench just before the second half got underway.
