Maritzburg Part Ways With Former Pirates Defender

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Maritzburg United have agreed to part ways with former Orlando Pirates defender Tshepo Gumede.

Gumede, 32, joined United in July after leaving Marumo Gallants and was even named the Team of Choice’s captain for the 2023/24 season.

But a close source confirmed to this publication that Gumede left United after not agreeing to salary cut with the club.

Gumede had six months left on his contract, as he only signed one-year deal with the KwaZulu-Natal side.

At this stage, it is not clear where he could move.

The former Cape Town City centre-bacl left the club within the January window transfer, which means he is allowed to join the club of his choice.
