Mbappe Breaks Silence On PSG Future

Superstar Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence on his future at Paris Saint-Germain, saying he never engaged in talks over a new contract..

On Monday, news emerged that Mbappe had informed the club’s leadership via a letter that he doesn’t want to activate an option in his contract to stay until 2025, meaning he could leave for free in 2024.

The news were understood to be not well received by the club’s leadership, with reports stating PSG would now be prepared to sell him in the upcoming window instead of risking to lose him for free after the 2023/24 campaign.

It was further claimed that the PSG were confused by Mbappe’s decision, as they had initiated talks to extend his contract and signs were positive.

However, Mbappe has now denied, via a statement through AFP, as cited by GFFN, that he ever engaged in new contract negotiations with his club.

“The management of the club in charge of the extension [was informed] as of July 15, 2022, of the decision not to continue beyond 2024. The letter was only to confirm what had already been clarified orally beforehand,” he stated.

It remains to be seen which clubs will make an attempt to sign the France captain, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said to have reopened talks with the player after missing out last season.

However, the situation seems to develop into one of the big transfer sagas of the upcoming transfer window, with the French transfer window opening in 18 days.
