Official: Pogba Lands New Club After 18-month Doping Ban

Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has taken a major step towards his return to professional football by signing a two-year deal with French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.

The French international was handed a four-year doping ban in 2023 after a drugs test found elevated levels of testosterone in his system, though that ban was then slashed to just 18 months.

The 30-year-old was confirmed to have inadvertently taken DHEA which is a substance that boosts testosterone and is on WADA’s banned list. The ruling did however state that the banned substance only has an effect on females.

After being dumped by Juventus, Pogba reportedly took ‘significant financial sacrifices’ in order to return to football with the Ligue 1 side.

“AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Paul Pogba,” the club confirmed.

“The French World Champion has signed a two-season deal, having signed with the Principality until 30 June 2027.”
