Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite has been appointed as the new head coach of newly promoted Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side, Phalaborwa United.
Mashamaite, 40, last featured in the professional ranks for SuperSport United in 2018, but never really officially retired.

However, he’s now seemingly taking the next step in his football career, switching the green grass with the dugout after being appointed as head coach by Phalaborwa United FC, where he will oversee the senior team, focusing on competitive performance, youth integration, and building a sustainable playing philosophy that reflects the club’s ambitions.
“Phalaborwa United FC is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Tefu Mashamaite as the club’s new Head Coach, effective immediately,” the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League club stated on Tuesday.
“Mr. T. Mashamaite brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in coaching, player development, winning titles. He is expected to bring fresh ideas, a strong tactical approach, and a passion for developing talent within the club.”
Phalaborwa Chairman, Mr T B Masea, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. T. Mashamaite to Phalaborwa United FC. His vision and leadership align with our long-term goals, and we are confident he will guide the team to new levels of success.”
