Official: Motupa Lands New PSL Club

Former Baroka FC, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns Gift Motupa has returned to Bakgakga, the club announced.

Motupa, 29, was clubless since cutting ties with Sundowns in January after he struggled to get game-time with the defending DStv Premiership champions.

He had been training with Matsatsantsa over the last few weeks but Gavin Hunt confirmed that they couldn’t sign him for this campaign but were willing to relook at his services for the new season.

On Tuesday, Baroka have announced a surprise return of their former striker.

Motupa started his professional career at Baroka in 2013 before joining Pirates in 2015. He returned to Bakgaka on loan for the 2017/18 campaign but then moved onto Bidvest Wits in 2018.

But when Wits’ status was sold, he joined Sundowns, where he made 22 appearances overall.

Baroka currently sit in fourth place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, just three points behind leaders AmaTuks and two behind the promotion playoff-spots held by Magesi and Orbit College.
