Sekhukhune United look set to keep hold of veteran defender Daniel Cardoso after all, despite his contract expiring and the 37-year-old leaving pre-season last week.
This website has been informed an agreement has been reached for Cardoso to remain at the club for the upcoming season, with sources indicating Babina Noko have agreed terms with the centre-back on a new deal that will keep him at the club for at least another season.
The extension is being seen as a reward for his service since joining Sekhukhune in 2022 after ending a seven-year stay with Kaizer Chiefs .
A source close to the negotiations said the agreement has been reached and that the club values what Cardoso brings both on and off the field, viewing it as recognition for his commitment.
On the pitch, Cardoso remains a key figure for new coach Cedric Kaze, having made 31 appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign and continued to provide leadership at the heart of defence and in the dressing room.
He’s set to play a key role with the new-look Babina Noko who are notably looking towards lowering the average age of the squad.
