September Opens Door To Kwayiba Transfer

Chippa United head coach Thabo September says he’s hopeful one of the big clubs snap up Sinoxolo Kwayiba in order for him to reach his full potential.

Kwayiba has emerged as one of the key figures of the Chippa squad since former coach Kwanele Kopo lured him back to the Eastern Cape from Pretoria Callies where they worked together in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The 25-year-old has been impressive as a wide midfield outlet and in the number 10 role with nine goals and two assists in 32 games across all competitions and made his senior international debut for Bafana Bafana in their 5-0 win over Congo Brazzaville in October.

“It’s good for him [to be attracting interest], for you to move to bigger teams, you need to perform, I think he did well [against Chiefs] we just need to keep him grounded because if he’s not performing, not fit, the player will be affected, but hopefully he gets bought,” he said about the in-form midfielder.

When asked to clarify if he said he wants the player to leave in the next transfer window, September emphasised, for the greater good of his potential, it’s perhaps essential.

“You want players to move on, I mean what’s [Chiefs’] budget,” September joked.

“So, you want players to move on, if I want Sinoxolo to stay in the Eastern Cape, it would be selfish. I wouldn’t be wanting the best for the player.

“The best for him is to play for the big teams, the best for him is to play in CAF [competitions]. The best for him for the national team is to be in those games, so I want the best for him.”
