SuperSport United have seen their opening bid for Rivers United striker Andy Okpe rejected.
Okpe, 23, had an impressive season in the Nigerian Premier League with 12 goal contributions in 34 matches that he was involved in.
The former Remo Stars FC striker travelled to South Africa last season to train with United and was said to have impressed.
iDiski Times has been informed that Matsatsantsa submitted a bid of $150,000 (R2.7 million) rejected, but will now prepare an improved offer for the club.
Matsatsansa already returned for pre-season last week and are looking to finalise deals swiftly in order to integrate the new arrivals into Gavin Hunt’s squad.
United has Bradley Grobler and Terrence Dzukamanja in the position and view Okpe as the ideal replacement for Etiosa Ighodaro, who as returned to Mamelodi Sundowns after his season-long loan.
Meanwhile teenage sensation Chandre Campbell is close to completing a move to Belgian side Club Brugge.
