Mayambela Continues Fine Form In Europe

Bafana Bafana international Mihlali Mayambela continued his fine form at Aris Limassol, scoring a crucial goal in their UEFA Champions League qualifier.

On Monday, Limassol confirmed they have renewed Mayambela’s contract until 2026, as was first reported by iDiski Times.

The 26-year-old previous contract was expiring at the end of the current season, but it now runs until June 2026 after his fine performances for the club he joined in the beginning of last season.

The former SC Farense winger quickly rewarded Cyprus champions with an important goal in the first leg of UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.

Mayambela netted a late stunner in Aris’ 2-1 defeat to Polish side Raków Częstochowa in the first leg, giving them a much better result ahead of the second leg next week Tuesday.

He continued his superb start to the new campaign just four months ahead of the African Cup Of Nations in Ivory Coast, as Mayambela has already had scored two goals and had two assists in four games in the new season, also helping the club to lift their first-ever Cypriot Super Cup.

But with the away-goal rule scrapped in Europe, Limassol will have to beat Częstochowa in six days time when they face each other in the second leg in Cyprus. A two-goal win for Limassol would see them qualify for the play-off round of the Champions League.
