Kaizer Chiefs Ladies head coach Unathi Mabena has challenged her side to not lose track and maintain their unbeaten momentum as they approach their 10th match of the season.

Since losing to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in their debut season opener in May, Amakhosazana have picked up six wins in the Gauteng Sasol Women’s Provincial League log standings with 18 points.

This past weekend, Mabena’s charges secured six valuable points from a double-header clashes. They hammered MITO Stars 6-2 at the Naturena Village before following that up with a convincing 3-0 victory over Mamelodi 11 Stars Ladies away from home.

Mabena has now applauded the Glamour Girls on both wins as they seek consistency for the upcoming games.

“I am very pleased with the response from the players this weekend. To score nine goals across two matches while keeping a clean sheet against Mamelodi 11 Stars shows the growth within the group,” she told the club’s website.

“The players approached both games with the right attitude and worked hard for the six points.

“Reaching 18 points after nine games is encouraging, especially for a team that is still building.

“We have shown improvement in recent weeks, but we understand that there is still a long way to go in the season. The important thing is that the players remain focused and continue working hard every day.”

‘A Different Challenge Awaits Us’

With Blue Birds Ladies at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on Saturday lying in wait, Mabena has requested the same level of commitment as the previous fixtures.

“Blue Birds will provide a different challenge and we expect a very competitive match,” she added.

“We have enjoyed a good weekend, but those results count for very little if we do not prepare properly for the next game. Our focus now shifts completely to our next fixture and making sure we are ready to perform at our best.”

Kick-off for Saturday’s game against Blue Birds gets underway at 14:00.
