AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates drew 1-1 at Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday evening, but there were wins for Swallows, Marumo Gallants and SuperSport United in the earlier DStv Premiership games.
AmaZulu 1-1 Orlando Pirates
Usuthu and Pirates ended 1-1, as the teams couldn’t be separated at Kings Park Stadium.
Olisa Ndah’s header was off target in the ninth minute, while Tercious Malepe was also off target for AmaZulu in the 15th minute. Fortune Makaringe went wide a minute later.
Pirates grabbed the lead in the 29th minute, as Deon Hotto beat Veli Mothwa with a good shot from the left side,
Keagan Buchanan went wide in the 33rd minute, while Andre De Jong suffered the same fate in the 42nd minute.
And AmaZulu were level in the 45th minute, as Tshepang Moremi found the equaliser for Benni McCarthy’s team to make it 1-1 at half-time.
Pirates had some good chances early in the second half, with Makaringe just going wide in the 51st minute, while Mothwa had to make saves from Kwame Peprah and Collins Makgaka.
Meanwhile De Jong went close with two successive attempts in the 54th minute, with the first going wide, while the second was saved by Siyabonga Mpontshane. Luvuyo Memela went wide two minutes later.
Both teams pushed for a winner, and De Jong had another chance in the 77th minute, but headed over.
Mothwa made a good save to deny Hotto in the 80th minute, and there were stoppage time chances for Peprah and substitute Thembinkosi Lorch making his return, but the Ghanaian was off target, while first Lorch had a chance stopped by Mothwa, then moments later he shot over.
Baroka 0-1 Swallows
Swallows moved the bottom off the table as they grabbed a 1-0 win against Baroka at at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Swallows grabbed the winner with twenty minutes remaining in the game, substitute Keletso Makgalwa getting on the scoresheet, with an assist from Grant Margeman.
Sekhukhune United 0-1 Marumo Gallants
Gallants picked up a good away win at Ellis Park, beating Sekhukhune 1-0.
After a goalless first half, Joseph Molangoane gave Gallants the lead, scoring in the 65th minute.
Gallants held onto their lead, to move to 12th position on the log.
Stellenbosch 0-1 SuperSport United
It looked to be heading to a goalless draw at the Danie Craven Stadium, but SuperSport grabbed the winner just before full-time to move up to third position.
Bradley Grobler found himself on the scoresheet in the 90th minute, as he finished from close range to grab all three points for Kaitano Tembo’s team.
