Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has said it is a collective effort, after he and Rulani Mokwena were named the winners of the Coach of the Month award for October/November.
Sundowns have remained unbeaten in the DStv Premiership this season, and are currently leading the league table by eleven points and the club’s fine performances have earned them their second monthly accolade.
Mngqithi says though that credit must go to everyone at the club for this achievement, as the coaches are just the recipients of the award, for an effort put in by everyone at the club.
“One must just appreciate the fact that, again, the adjudicators felt we deserved to win the award,” Mngqithi told the club’s media department.
“Myself, Coach Rulani, Coach, Steve, Coach Wendell, and the entire technical team, together with the players, because they are the ones who play the game, they are the ones who understand exactly what is expected in a big team, like Sundowns.
“And when we win these trophies, we are just the recipients. The truth of the matter is our players, our technical team, our support staff, our management, the board, the president of the club, and the chairperson, they make us to look good, because they provide all the resources.
“The players give their best, the technical team supports all what we are trying to do, and they help us in achieving whatever that we want to achieve.
“So I just want to say it’s a collective effort. And we are very thankful that we are having a group of people like this, who are supporting us to make sure that at the end of the day, we win these awards.
“But all these awards belong to the team, not to us.”
