Gabadinho Mhango’s agent Mike Makaab has confirmed they are “in talks” with several clubs, as new AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin is not planning with the striker.
Mhango, 30, seems on his way out at Usuthu after he was recently stopped to train with the club and also hasn’t been part of the squad for the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup, as reported by iDiski Times over the weekend.
The former Orlando Pirates striker has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, with some even stating he has already “agreed a move” but Makaab insisted on Gagasi FM “he hasn’t” signed for Amakhosi, adding “it’s not even close.”
Makaab, though did confirm Mhango’s camp have been speaking to potential suitors, but they first need to sort out his situation with Usuthu, because he still has a contract with the club.
“We have been speaking… we have been speaking to a number of clubs,” he explained.
“You have to understand that he’s contracted to AmaZulu Football Club, he’s not a free agent, as we talk.
“So there are a lot of issues that have to be dealt with. Again, like I said with Terrence [Dzvukamanja] and with Thami Gabuza, these things have to be done correctly and in the right manner and we’ll do exactly the right thing with Mhango.”
Makaab further stated that they are currently in discussion with AmaZulu to find an amicable solution for everyone involved.
“There are definitely discussions underway for him to move from the club,” he added.
“It doesn’t seem that is in the new coach’s plan, but the club has to respect that he has a contract and we will do everything in our power to ensure that we’ll find a solution because it’s important that both football club and football player are happy.
“If that isn’t the case, we have to find a solution but it’s got to be a solution that’s fair to all parties.”
Finally, when asked whether Chiefs are still in the mix for Mhango’s signature, Makaab referred to Bobby Motaung’s statement over the weekend after the Chiefs football manager dismissed those rumours.
“I think maybe we should refer that question to Bobby Motaung because he went on national television to say that they’re looking for strikers but Gabadinho Mhango isn’t one of them. I don’t like to make comments until I know my facts,” he concluded.
