Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that new signing Pule Mmodi will miss Sunday’s DStv Premiership opener after the sad passing of his mother.
Mmodi is one of seven new Amakhosi signings and many expected him to start on Sunday against Chippa United.
However, he will miss the clash due to the passing of his mother, the club confirmed on Friday.
“The Kaizer Chiefs family are saddened to announce the passing on of Basetsana Lillian Mmodi (Pule Mmodi’s mother) after an illness,” the club stated.
“We send our heartfelt condolences at this sorrow time to Pule, his family and friends.
“Pule has been provided the necessary compassion and will not form part of the team on weekend.”

Amakhosi kick off their 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign against Chippa at Moses Mabhida Stadium at 15:00 on Sunday.
