Rulani – What I’ll Tell Downs Stars Before Al Ahly Clash

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed what he will tell his players ahead of their African Football League (AFL) semi-final at Al Ahly on Wednesday evening.

The second leg of AFL semi-final has already started off the pitch after Mokwena elaborately hit back at Al Ahly for their complaint to the Confederation of African Football in his pre-match press conference.

It’s been three days since Sundowns narrowly beat the African Champions 1-0 in Pretoria. There were few talks points going to the first leg of the clash in Cairo, and Mokwena looked well-prepared for a battle on and off the pitch.

Mokwena explained what he will tell the players ahead of the clash. Masandawana arrived in Egypt in the early hours of Tuesday.

“I said to the players its only half-time, we know that we are playing against a very, very good side with a very good pedigree on the African continent, particularly in club competitions,” he said ahead of the game.

“And that we have to play as well if not better than we did in South Africa to get a good result here.

“We’ll show a lot of respect to our opponents, we always approach every game with a lot of humility and that’s the same message I will say to the players.”

The Egyptian authorities approved 50,000 spectators for the clash, which is 20,000 more than the number of the supporters they approved for the quarter-final clash against Simba SC.

The matches kicks off at 19:30 at the Cairo International Stadium.
