Treble winners, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies look to secure the signature of University Of Western Cape captain Bongeka Gamede.
Sundowns Ladies had yet another successful season after clinching their second COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers before securing their second CAF Women’s Champions League and sealing the season with their third Hollywoodbets Super League title with a game to spare, leaving UWC as the runners-up.
But Sundowns Ladies are not sleeping on their laurels, as information received by this publications points to them working day and night to get the signature of Banyana Banyana defender Gamede as they look to boast their squad for the upcoming season.
UWC could lose Gamede on a free transfer since most of the clubs competing in the Hollywoodbets Super League don’t have contracts.
Gamede has over 25 caps for Banyana and was part of the squad that qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time.
Should the deal happen, the 24-year-old will be the second player to join Downs from UWC in a space of six months after Kholosa Biyana moved to the capital city, which saw her winning treble after months joining the club.
