Orlando Pirates have activated a two-year option in the contract of striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, whose deal was expiring at the end of the current season.
Mabasa has been loaned out twice by Pirates since completing his move from Bloemfontein Celtic.
‘Sniper’ spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sekhukhune United and scored two goals in the 920 minutes that he played.
At the beginning of this campaign he was loaned out to Swallows, netting six goals in the first six months before making a return to his mother club.
This publication understands that the Buccaneers exercised a two-year option in Mabasa’s contract, and he will be with the side until at least June 2026.
Mabasa will bring competition to Bucs strikers Evidence Makgopa, who has scored four league goals so far, Zakhele Lepasa with three league goals, as well as Souaibou Marou and Kermit Erasmus who are yet to score in the league.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic talisman is amongst those chasing the Golden Boot this season, as he is currently just two goals behind Cape Town City’s Khanyisa Mayo, who’s the current leading goal scorer with eight goals.
