Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has in a bombshell interview conceded that he is ready to leave the club for a ‘new challenge’.
The 27-year-old has endured a complicated 18 months, and it got even worse for him this past weekend when he was dropped from the match-day squad by Ruben Amorim for the 2-1 Manchester Derby win at the Etihad Stadium.
In an astonishing interview posted on social media site X, the United academy product disclosed that he needed to take on a ‘new challenge’, openly speaking about leaving Old Trafford as a ‘when’, and not an ‘if’.
The hometown boy who has netted 143 goals in two decades at the club, missed Monday’s training after being sent home sick from training.
On Tuesday, he visited his old primary school where he handed out 420 Christmas presents which is when he dropped the bombshell story.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he said, according to Daily Mail.
“When I leave it’s going to be “no hard feelings”. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.
“If I know that a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I’ll make a statement, and it will be from me.”

He capped off the interview by saying he would however still remain a Red at heart past his United playing days.
“Yes! 100%. 100%,” he added.
Rashford has struggled to replicate the form that saw him hit the net 30 times in the 2022/23 season having scored just four Premier League goals so far this campaign.
