Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba admits he was dropped from the starting line-up after a goalless start to the new campaign and admits there’s major pressure to deliver.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season last campaign for the senior side with five goals and three assists in 25 games in all competitions and was expected to take his performances to a new level.

However, he’s yet to open his account in five league outings so far, which he admitted, is the reason he’s been taken out of the starting line-up in each of the last three domestic games.
“I didn’t start the season very well, that’s why the coach ended up taking me out of the team, I was not giving him what he wanted, so I’m working on myself to try and be better and getting back into the starting line-up,” Duba explained.
“I think every coach needs a striker who scores on his team, Flavio and Mayo got into the team and both scored, and I wasn’t doing that, but tactically I have been doing well – but it’s now just a matter of me finding the net.”
Duba has never been shy to speak about his raw emotions and feelings and suggested that the pressure that comes with being a forward at the Soweto giants is massive – but something he understands completely.
“As a Chiefs player, there’s always going to be pressure and you have to play under that pressure, being a Kaizer Chiefs striker is not easy – not scoring for two games, it’s a big issue,” Duba explained.
“You know how our fans are, if you don’t score, you must go out, even for the coaches…”
Duba will be aiming to work his way back into contention when Chiefs host AmaZulu on Wednesday evening at FNB Stadium (19h30).
