Esperance Coach Beaumelle – Anything Is Possible At Loftus

Esperance Sportive de Tunis head coach Patrice Beaumelle says they are unconcerned about Mamelodi Sundowns‘ home record in the CAF Champions League as they’ve shown what’s possible, having beaten Al Ahly in Cairo in the previous round.

Esperance come into the clash in Tshwane, trailing 1-0 from the first leg that took place in Rades last week where Brayan Leoń netted the only goal of the game.

And with Masandawana holding an incredible record this season, unbeaten in South Africa – Beaumelle suggested that shows how strong they are, but the contest isn’t impossible.

“Statistics are made to be changed, it’s an indicator that they are efficient and good in this competition,” he said.

“But a month ago, Esperance went to Cairo, where they have never won in their history and we won, with three goals – we have Sundowns troubles last week, but we were not efficient. We need to show belief like we did in Cairo – and anything will be possible in this game.”

Kouceila Boualia, the Algerian winger present with the Taraji coach in the press conference echoed the sentiments; “We are confident, we played well in Tunis.

“We know there’s a difference in playing well and getting a result, but we’re confident of getting the job done here in South Africa.”

The match kicks off on Saturday afternoon at 15h00 at Loftus Versfeld in what will be a sold-out affair.
